The highest level of charity is providing anonymously for those whom we have not met.
Not everyone is as fortunate as we are in Cincinnati, OH. Hurricanes and other natural disasters leave many individuals without basic necessities such as clothing, cleaning supplies, first aid, non-perishable food, water, personal care products, baby/infant supplies and blankets. So does everyday life in impoverished lands.
Feel free to donate supplies - although that is not what this Meetup is about.
We have been fortunate to arrange two 2-hour shifts to help the fine people at Matthew 25 Ministries pack goods for the less fortunate throughout the world. The demand is never-ending and we have scheduled the following two time slots on March 2, 2013 (Saturday):
9:00 - 11:00 am 11:30-1:30 pm
(plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early)
We will be working in a warehouse environment with many other people, so dress appropriately. There is parking at the Kenwood Rd. facility and also nearby if there is overflow.
We did this once before and we were hugely successful. Because there is such a huge demand for people wanting to volunteer (100s per week), we have been allotted 40 spaces for each time (80 people total); this represents a 33% boost from our original amount [we had 67 show up last time]. 9-11 am time slot is full - all unassigned and new people are automatically in the[masked] time slot.
Even though M25M is a religious-based organization, do not feel that your particular beliefs should be an impediment for participating. Everyone is welcome and this is a wonderful thing for us to do - and a little bit different.
When you sign up, please let me know what time works best for you, or put “either time works” and I will slot you in. If you want to bring children, they are welcome. We need to know their ages (17 and younger) so they can be slotted ahead of time in age-appropriate sections of the warehouse.
On behalf of Matthew 25 Ministries and the people they serve, thank you for sharing your time.
