Where – Cowan Lake State Park at the public beach. You'll come in on SR 350 and turn left onto Yankee Road. Follow the signs to the beach parking lot. Here's the link to the park map: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/2/parkmaps/cowanlakeparkmap.pdf
When – Expect to arrive at 8:45 (or earlier) and launch at about 9:00 AM (to beat the heat).
Number of Attendees – The ideal group size is about 12 kayakers, so if we balloon up in numbers, we'll separate into two groups. One group will head across the lake to the north shore patch while the other group will head east to the boat-ramp patch and feeder stream. We'll pass each other along the north shore with everyone having the best possible experience and meet up again at the beach.
What To Bring – PFD / sun hat / camera / warm weather clothing / water / snacks / sun screen...and your cameras
Restrooms – At the public beach and at the swimming beach near the north shore patch.
Weather Forecast – I'll watch the weather and provide updates as needed / Go – No Go email to attendees within 24 hours or the night before.
Experience – Suitable for beginners / flat water / no power boats / about three hours of easy paddling
Post-Paddle Sustenance – Way back yonder on SR 350 at I-71 is a great truck stop type restaurant with a strong local following. In other words, the grub is really good...especially the anytime-breakfast.
Liability Waiver – As always, by joining in this event you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to abide by the Tri-State Kaykers liability waiver. You can find this waiver in the Files section of the Tri-State Kayakers web site
With heat and early blooming, the lotus blossom season this year could be short. Make the pilgrimage to Cowan Lake
You'll thank yourself many times over.
