Brian Platz, Co-founder of Fluree will speak about why he chose to build Fluree, an immutable, blockchain-secured database on top of Clojure. He will cover:

Intro to Fluree - an immutable blockchain database broken up into two parts: FlureeDL (programmable distributed ledger) and FlureeDB (graph query engine).

Why we chose Clojure - Using a functional programming language, which has an emphasis on immutability, has been essential in constructing an immutable DB.

Functional Programming for Blockchain Rules - Fluree treats code as data, therefore securing schema and blockchain rules directly in its database as data itself.

Speaker Bio:
Brian is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of Fluree, PBC, a North Carolina-based Public Benefit Corporation focused on transforming data security, ownership, and access. Platz was an entrepreneur and executive throughout the early internet days and SaaS boom, having founded the popular A-list apart web development community, along with a host of successful SaaS companies. He is now helping companies navigate the complexity of the blockchain enterprise movement, having been invited to speak on the topic at 16 global conferences in 2018 alone.

Before establishing Fluree, Brian co-founded SilkRoad Technology which grew to over 2,000 customers and 500 employees in 12 global offices.
