What we're about

Please feel free to help our group by posting local community garden events from local gardens and farms!

Visit local community gardens; learn gardening tips and techniques with guest speakers; start your own community garden or just enjoy new friendships with fellow gardeners!

Here are a few things you will get from the group!

1) Garden Tours: See a variety of local community gardens throughout the triangle.

2) Opportunity to Your own Produce in a Community Garden: Find the right community gardens near you that will have spaces you can rent for the season to grow your own produce.

3) Volunteer Days: You will also have the opportunity to help out in several of the gardens we visit.

4) Guest Speakers: Learn gardening techniques from guest speakers. On Volunteer Days you can join in and help local community gardens with wonderful and worthwhile projects and maybe even come home with some produce!

5) Get tips and help starting your own community garden in your neighborhood!

Social Distance Friendly! Play in the Dirt! Approved Outdoor Activity!

Tinkerbolt Educational Farm

Our planting projects are social distance friendly and meet exemptions for outdoor activities for stay orders. This is a great way to get outside and help the farm produce locally grown food. Volunteers are kept at a 20 feet to 100 feet or more from strangers (Families who live together are allowed to work together). Enjoy a day of creating planting beds, seeding, planting at our community educational farm! Please be sure to bring your own water and snacks as we have been told not to provide food and water till the crisis is over. Stay for a few minutes or a few hours- every bit helps. All ages are welcome. Kids under 14 must be supervised by their parents :) LOCATION: GPS doesn't always work so please read: Farm is located off I-40. Exit 261 Hillsborough. About a minute off the Freeway toward Chapel Hill. It will be on the left hand side, You will see a huge mulch pile!

Social Distance Friendly! Community Service at the Farm

Tinkerbolt Educational Farm

We can work with your schedule so contact us! Our farm provides projects which are social distance friendly and allow for at least[masked] feet working space. We also genuinely need the help so we are exempt from stay at home orders since we focus on food production. Do you have community service hours you need to fulfill for school, court or fun? Join us at the community farm! We can accommodate community service hours any day of the week. We have regularly scheduled volunteer days on Saturday and Sundays or create special projects during the week. Join us for an hour or the entire day. Light snacks and water provided.
