Subject: [czech-142] Czech & Slovak Language in the U.S. - a study

Hello Everyone,

My name is Marta McCabe, and as some of you might already know, my doctoral studies at UNC are slowly nearing the end.  As part of the program, I will be conducting a study about Czech and Slovak immigrants in the U.S., and would like to invite your participation in this research.

The purpose of this study is to explore the goals and practices of Czech and Slovak parents regarding their children's heritage language maintenance and loss in the U.S.  In order to qualify for participation, you would need to have one or more children between ages 3 and 17.  Families, where both parents are of Czech/Slovak origin, as well as families where only one parent is Czech/Slovak are welcome to be part of the study.

For more details, please see the attached document.

If you and your spouse decide to participate, you will take part in one or two qualitative face-to-face interviews with me (Marta McCabe).  Your children will not be directly involved in the study.

Please let me know if you are interested in participating or wish to receive more details!

You are welcome to respond in Czech, Slovak, or English!

Thank you!

Děkuji mnohokrát!
