Learn about Openstack

Come out to hear Felix Maldonado of Teradata talk to us about Openstack. He'll be doing an overview and breakdown of the different pieces of Openstack and will then follow that with an installation guide for a a few different configurations.

You've likely heard Openstack mentioned as being used by various companies as they build their private cloud (such as at last month's talk when Mark Imbriaco mentioned Living Social is using it). This is your opportunity to learn what it is, what it's about, and if it might work for you.

How to Get to the Talk:

The talk will be given at Teradata. The address is:

5565 Centerview Drive, Raleigh, NC

While the address is technically Raleigh, they are on the edge of Cary, as the are located just off of Jones Franklin Road, near where 40 and 440 meet. The Crossroads shopping center is not far away.

Parking is in the rear of the building and you'll see lots of steps up to the entrance of the building. Teradata is located on the third floor of the building. There is a buzzer in the event that the door ends up locked.

Will there be food and drink?

Teradata has offered to provide some pizza. Please RSVP so plans can made accordingly. There will also be soda, tea, and water.

About Felix:

Felix has been working with cloud services for the last 5 years, including Rackspace Cloud, Amazon AWS, and Openstack. He has previously been living the network/system engineer life, having worked for a corporate English school in Japan in Osaka and Tokyo maintaining their servers. He's been working on Linux for the past eight years and has been doing everything from tech support to systems engineering for the last thirteen.

was good information, could help me solve some stuff in my own env.
IDK if it's really that worth it to see how something is setup as opposed to how something is used to solve XYZ problems.

Not knowing anything about Openstack the talk was great. It summarized the topic in a un-sanitized way. Refreshing to see raw install with real things breaking.

Any chance that this could be streamed and/or recorded? I'm going to be out of town, but I'd love to hear Felix' talk.
