Pho anyone?

Ok Pho lovers, the countdown has commenced. You now have less than one hour to adjust your RSVP. I have committed to this establishment there will be a large amount of people and with my commitment they too are counting on me...thus I'm counting on each 'yes' RSVP to be there this evening to enjoy the food and the group. See you there!

I like Tonya,s idea! I don't mind waiting in such good company, however I will have a little snack next time since it is unlikely that we will have speedy service with a large group.

      At Pho 9n9?

      December 30, 2012

I am with Ines, we would be more likely to not get great service with a large group. What would be neat is to go to a place where there was a room that people could have cocktails and mingle. Then based pub Arial or order time people would be called to sit for dinner in small groups. I really only go to meet the 4 people (sitting around me) out of 64. Just need the right venue

Had fun last night! Glad I had that piece of chicken before I came over or I probably would have needed IV fluids heh!

If you were ever in need of IV fluids, I happened to have some extra fat laying on my belly. I would cut it off and personally stir fry it for you 100% authentic Chinese style. You are welcome, Richard! And hopefully you are the Richard I met yesterday, otherwise this is gonna be really awkward. LOL.

Who are you? LOL just kiding. Maybe you should do that next time heh!

Ok everyone who hasn't been to Pho 9n9 before has to understand that night was the largest crowd they ever had in one evening. That's why when singles or couples were coming in that were not part of our group got big eyes because Pho 9n9 is usually a quiet place to have dinner. I think they did a good job we brought in their largest ticket ever! I was talking to one of the co-owners after dinner and she was telling me that she was sorry about the mistakes etc. Even though they made me wait a while for my P2 and brought me out a small version of what i wanted I was still very happy because the crowd around me was very nice and fun to talk too! Good job Glenda I am looking forward to our next great dining experience!

Congrats, Glenda! That is the largest sit down dinner I've ever been to for a meetup! I'm glad I cameand got to see everyone and my P2 was quite good!

For all of the attendees last night, I want to ask a loaded question. I would like to get a response from those who feel how things could have been done differently to make the experience better. We all seem to agree their service was lacking, however for the most part, everyone spoke of how good the food was and the mingle of the group. Going forward, I have a thought if we have a big turn out again like this, the staff (wherever we go) should possibly give everyone a number when an order is placed. Once the event was over last night and the owners began to discuss some of the issues they ran into was when an order was taken some folks would move to another area to talk to others. I am not clear if that actually happened but it was probably all they could mention in their defense. Even though I did not keep this question brief, if you would like to respond back to this and 'briefly' give me your thoughts on avoiding this in the future it would help. Please be kind :) Thanks!

I like the number idea. The organizer could put tent-card numbers at each table setting before people arrive. That way the numbers would be in order of how people are sitting as opposed to when they arrived. That would be easiest for the staff.

I agree with the number idea. Another idea (in conjunction with the tent cards) - the restaurant could present the group with a limited menu, preferably prior to the event. They could present the top 5-8 most popular appetizers and dinner dishes. It's a compromise, however, they could plan ahead to have certain quantities in stock, prep the food in batches and people would receive their meals faster.

True it took a long time to get the food, but the company was good. I don't know how any place can be ready for a rush like that. After all we weren't guaranteed to show up in large numbers. So we should get use to wait if the crowd is large

    2 · December 29, 2012

Michael, thanks for being a real trooper about the service. Overall, I believe the group understood how overwhelmed the staff seemed to be. Be sure to check out the upcoming meetups as well.

      1 · December 29, 2012

  • Sandy

Yes the staff was clearly overwhelmed because after 40+ minutes I still did not get food and left...after the manager finally advised that what I had ordered they ran out of....but the people I sat with were very nice and as I do not know anyone in the area it was nice just to get out :)

Anyone want to bet on 56 people showing up .The 56 people on the list now. Win or lose. I'll even spot a few if you want odds and are into that kind of thing. Dining and gaming...

    December 27, 2012

    • Glenda

Hey Mike I forgot to ask last night on your wager to see how much you lost. Hehehehe. We had a total of 54 and possibly missed adding one or two more :-) Was glad to see you and Barbara there.

      December 29, 2012

    • Michael

No one had enough faith in the group to bet me??? Humm. Maybe next time. We were glad to see such a big turn out. Too bad the staff was not ready for this kind of group... They did OK though. I would suggest Thai house near Wake forest and the belt line for Pho. They have crispy duck phi that is so good. Probably a limit of 12 though for them since they are small. Dalat near NC state too. But they are super slow for big groups.

I like their Number 7, Combination. It's my favorate. It should be Number 1 on the manu at most places. But seems too small to me too!

The company was great. The restaurant was a limitless overwhelmed with the group. But I thought they did real we'll

    1 · December 29, 2012

I agree. Since the group seems to enjoy Pho, I may look into having another meetup but at another place. I got a couple of ideas from the group last night I will look into.

The company was great, I made some new friends, it was really nice catching up with Glenda and 3 other old friends, and I also got to meet some people I'd wanted to meet for a while. Only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is that the restaurant's service wasn't very good, and my food wasn't hot.
