Vue.js: An Introduction to Vue, Building Vue Expansion Packs, and more
Join us in Durham for our first TriangleJS Vue event! Come for pizza and a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, an amazing speaker lineup, and lots of fun! Thanks to Smashing Boxes for generously inviting us into their space for our event, and to Pendo for sponsoring pizza and drinks! Featured Talks: 1. Introduction to Vue (mini-talk) Speaker: Jake Dohm Description: We'll go through Vue's core concepts, so everyone is familiar with the basics of Vue before the other speakers dive into other Vue topics! 2. Building Vue Expansion Packs: Introduction to Plugins, Mixins, and Directives Speaker: Rob Ocel Description: Do you have a custom use case that isn't supported with vanilla Vue? Do you want to port over your favorite features from other libraries or frameworks? Vue can do it! Using vue-rx as a case study, we'll learn how to expand the capabilities of Vue using plugins, mixins, and directives! 3. Using Node to Create NPM Packages Speaker: Ed Cole, Director of Engineering at Smashing Boxes Description: This talk will cover the process of creating two distinct npm packages from start to finish. The first is a tool for helping beginners with React, while the second is a command line scaffolding tool. We'll cover the process of creating these tools from ideation to build to publishing on npm. If you've ever wanted to know how to create and publish a node tool, or want to go deeper in the process, then this is for you! 4. Vue in the Real World Speaker: Cliff Hess, Senior Front End Engineer at Pendo Description: Vue is an amazing display layer framework, but if you’re building a real world production application you need a lot more than just the display layer. I’ll introduce the basics of commonly used libraries associated with Vue to handle state management, routing, UI components, and more!
