• Bolognese Two-Handed Sword (Non-Beginners)

    This is an intermediate-level class on the Bolognese System of fencing for two-handed sword providing a focused training period for approximately 3-4 months. New TSG students, students unfamiliar with the Bolognese or Renaissance fencing traditions, or those who are interested in focusing on the fundamentals of Renaissance fencing, should first attend our Renaissance Fencing Beginner's class or the Longsword Beginner's class. This material will cover: Introductory Material: — Segno stepping — Parry/Riposte techniques — Basic Provocations — Flow Drills — Marozzo’s Progression through the Guards Form with 2HS (Marozzo’s Introductory form to moving through Guards with basic cuts and thrusts) Core Material: — Marozzo’s First Assault, Parts 1—> 5 (Focuses on wide-play techniques) — Marozzo’s Second Assault, Parts 1—> 3 (Focuses on the integration of wide-play to narrow-play and the context of how to transition through wide to bind to narrow actions). — Selected techniques in Mezza Spada or “half-sword" (Bolognese bind techniques) — Sparring Drills Extra Material: — Selected Techniques from Prese (Grappling) — Intro to 2HS vs Polearms Some sword trainers and equipment are available however students should ideally have a longsword feder and at least gloves and mask.

  • Bolognese Swordsmanship - Open Training (Non-Beginners)

    This is an intermediate-level open-training class on the Bolognese System of fencing and martial arts. New TSG students, students unfamiliar with the Bolognese or Renaissance fencing traditions, or those who are interested in focusing on the fundamentals of Renaissance fencing, should first attend our Renaissance Fencing Beginners classes. This class will be less structured and involve more semi-independent training as a way to give students more time to focus on a specific topic of interest, such as forms, techniques, sparring, or studying the sources and treatises. The start and end times are an estimate and students are not required to have to attend at a specific time.

  • Sparring (Non-Beginners)

    NOTE: This class is not for students in our beginner class. This class involves open sparring time for our intermediate members. All members should have access to a complete set of sparring gear. Our training during this hour will be pretty informal, but we may also work on practicing for a number of different competitive rule sets.

  • Renaissance Swordsmanship - Beginner's Class (Brier Creek)

    This class is an introduction to Renaissance Swordsmanship, open to anyone interested in getting started. All are welcome, regardless of prior experience. No equipment is necessary for the beginner class, though please come dressed in exercise clothes and don't forget to bring water. The class is outdoors so please wear appropriate cloths for the weather. This class begins with the fundamentals of the one-handed sword as used in 16th-century Italy. Students will learn the basics here over a couple weeks of private lessons before joining the Fundamentals class. Please RSVP if you intend to come. TRAINING FEES: Our club's training fees are $40 / month, but classes are free through the first calendar month to give new students a chance to try us out. Feel free to drop by, try out our classes for a few weeks free of charge, and see if we're a good fit for you.   • Core Kunst des Fechtens

    This is TSG's main KdF class. We warm up together, work on basic longsword drills, then break out into individual training groups that focus on specific aspects of Liechtenauer's Kunst des Fechtens. This class is primarily for existing TSG students. New students should first take the Beginner Class.

  • Focused Training Time

    DESCRIPTION: This class time is reserved for existing students who are interested in extra training time to help work through the curriculum. Please see Ben S. if you're interested in coming. New TSG students, students unfamiliar with the German Liechtenauer Tradition, or those who are interested in focusing on longsword fundamentals should first attend our Beginner classes.

  • Longsword Beginner Class

    This class is an introduction to the German Longsword. New students are welcome through the month of April (2019). No equipment is necessary for the beginner class, though please come dressed in exercise clothes and don't forget to bring water. TRAINING FEES: Our club's training fees are $40 / month.
