I've just started learning mandarin and don't have anyone fluent in the language to talk to and perfect my skills. I have an interest in the chinese culture so it would be a nice way to meet some new friends and make learning fun.

What Darriel W. is saying about this Meetup Group

Well, It's really a good way to get to know other people of a different culture and to practice your mandarin skills of course. I think sometimes we may have stereotypes of how certain cultures may or may not interact with others. This is a positive way of dispelling some of the negative or ignorant ideas that we have of other cultures. With the way China influences us so, especially in the U.S. and vice versa, it would benefit us in so many ways if we learned mandarin, a great way to bridge our communication to 1.3 billion chinese.
