The following is the brief description of NCCDSA:

Dear Friends:

Life is tough and stressful nowadays. Hard work schedules and busy family duties for kids make us strive for surviving during this Great Recession time. Health becomes the last thought in our minds; we have no time to exercise and to enjoy life. Well, you have a good choice now:

Beautiful music, nice lights and elegant dancing steps, you are enjoying life while doing the exercises. Ballroom dance is the best combination of physical exercises you can imagine: no matter if you want to shake off your extra pounds or build a strong body. It combines sport, art and entertainment all together plus its social and therapeutically functions (to release your working stress). Unlike other sports, you barely will get anybody injury for doing dance sport. Recent clinical trials demonstrated that Waltz is the best exercise for your heart recovery, better than different games and sports, even better than aerobics! In the past few decades, obesity rates have increased rapidly in many countries. Diabetes and heart related problems due to lack of movement from our life style also become a major issue for public health. In time of health as the first priority, dance sport is definitely your right choice.

NC Chinese Dance Sport Association (NCCDSA, ) is organizing ballroom dancing parties at Chapel Hill to provide a platform for Chinese community members to have a nice opportunity to do both exercise and social activities. The time will be from 7 pm to 9:45 pm Saturday evenings. The detail dates will be provided in our events page. There will be half an hour of free instruction time for members who have no experience and want to learn some basic steps.

For all kinds of different reasons, there were no regular Chinese dancing parties in this area in the past. We are happy this time some volunteers and enthusiasts for ballroom dance from local areas came together to form this non-profit, volunteer-run organization: North Carolina Chinese DanceSport Association (NCCDSA) and now we can go dancing parties regularly. We wish all dance lover can join us to make it a good social gathering opportunity and a nice weekend going/exercising event. We need everybody's help and support to make NCCDSA to last long and forever. We also need all folks' inputs, suggestions and experiences so we can select the best format and choose the nice music which all people can enjoy. It is not very important how well we can dance now, it is more important that we can actively participate in and improve our skills and exchange ideas in a friendly club atmosphere instead of like other dance parties, people just come, dance by themselves and go home without communicating with other folks. We plan to have dance at least once a month and even more often if budget allows (the more members we have, the more often we can hold the dance parties). We also would like to have folks who dance well to volunteer for dance shows and instructions for others and help people who are less advanced to improve their skills during the dance. Please contact us if you would like to have this volunteer opportunity.

There are three types of memberships to fit different folks needs (see registration page). The collected membership fee will be used exclusively to cover the dance parties related cost, such as place rental/drinking water expenses. By paying membership fee, it also will encourage you to cherish your money and devote yourself to participate actively in our parties. Interested individuals can contact Hongbo Xie at ([address removed]) or Mingfen Xu([address removed]) to register, please provide your name, address, phone number and e-mail address.

With all our hard work and efforts we will make it better and better and let it become a popular event where everyone enjoys.

Leave the busy work and routine life behind you for a while; lets get out and have some dances!

                        Dance for health!

                        Dance for fun!

                        Dance for high spirit!

All ages are welcome.

All nationalities are welcome.
