Meetup Description: Ru-Fen has a friend who owns a farm in Brown Summit. It's about an hour and a half drive one way and it's a nice place with horses to ride and other animals in a petting zoo. The farm is 17 acres in a very nice country setting with plenty of room to ride horses and scenery to enjoy.
We will meet in the parking lot in front of Dick's Sporting Goods in the Brier Creek shopping center in Raleigh and will leave at 1PM. I have gone on other car pooling trips and we've left our cars there. All were safe.
Our pot luck meal will be our dinner that evening at the farm.
There is also a nearby place that offers wine tasting too and we can decide as a group if we want to go or not. If we do, we must leave Raleigh by 1 PM in order to get to the farm then on to the wine tasting before it closes at 5PM. We'll return to the farm for our dinner and activities.
The afternoon will look like this:
1PM: Leave Raleigh
2:30PM: Arrive at the farm. Coordinate with the owners for where we can set up our picnic.
We will also decide who wants to attend the wine tasting.
2:45PM: Those who want to attend the wine tasting will go to there.
Those who choose to stay can enjoy activites on the farm.
5PM: Everyone meet at our picnic spot to enjoy dinner
After that we can decide if we want to stay through the evening or come back.
Since this is pot luck, everyone should bring one or two dishes to share with the group. Don't forget plates, cups and anything else you want to enjoy.
You should also plan to bring a blanket and some portable chairs as well so we'll have a place to sit while we share our meal.
It's best that we car pool so we need volunteers to drive. Anyone have a van?
Those who ride along will arrange to help pay for gas. It's not a far trip so one car with 5 to 6 people would cost each person about $5.00 in gas to help. If the driver has a bigger car or van then it would be fair to divide the cost equally among riders.
The total cost per person will be approximately as follows:
$5.00 gas to non drivers.
$15.00 Activities fees on the riding farm.
$7.00 for the wine tasting (optional for those who want to enjoy).
$?.00 cost of food each person wants to bring to share.
So not counting food, the cost per person would be approximately $27.00. Please bring cash to pay for the gas and activities.
We'll need to have a firm count for RSVP's by August 27 so we can finalize arrangements with the farm. Please write what you plan to bring when you RSVP and whether or not you can drive.
