This two day course will take you on a journey into some of our most ancient basket making skills and techniques which are utilised the world over. In whichever region of the world you dwell, the local flora will provide you with an abundant supply of plant materials which can be used as a core and stitched together to make a coiled mat, container or basket.

We will take the opportunities which the landscape offers and forage for materials around the generous waterways of Trill Farm. As well as foraging for materials for coiled baskets we will process various plants to produce fibres suitable for making cordage, one of the most useful and versatile of craft skills.

This course is suitable for both beginners and experienced basket makers. The course will involve working outside and some foraging work for materials, as such please dress appropriately for the British countryside.
