Hey everyone, let's take some time to escape the summer heat, and head up Mt Lemmon for a potluck picnic. We did this last year, and it was a lot of fun. Temperatures up there are usually about 15 degrees cooler than in town, and the Tucson Atheists are the coolest group in town anyway, so come join us for a few hours out of the heat.

We'll meet at Le Buzz Cafe, which is on the corner of Tanque Verde Rd and Catalina Highway (in with the Walgreens and Safeway), sort out carpools and head up the mountain. Our destination will be Box Elder Picnic area, which is just past the Mile 23 marker on the right. The parking lot has only about eight spots, so we will need to carpool. It will probably take us about an hour to get up there from the cafe, and these places tend to fill up, so we need to get up there sooner rather than later. For that reason, we will be leaving the cafe at 9am, so you need to be there no later than 8:45 so we arrange car pools and stuff. Please be respectful of others and arrive on time. We will be leaving at 9am with or without you. (Sorry to sound like a jerk, but this is always an issue)

Dogs are allowed up on Mt Lemmon, so if you have a well-behaved dog, feel free to bring him or her along. This will also be a kid-friendly event, so bring the family! As of right now, fire restrictions are still in place on Mt Lemmon, so we will not be able to have any charcoal fire or fire of any sort other than propane grills. This may change, but don't plan on it. *UPDATE* Fire restrictions were lifted on July 16, so we are okay to bring grilling stuff.

Weather may interfere with our plans, so please keep an eye out for any updates. I will make a final call Friday afternoon/evening. We'll try to push this out a week if it looks like we'll get rained out, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

When you RSVP for this, please let us know what you plan on bringing. I don't want to end up with 25 potato salads. For anyone who doesn't know what to bring, things like sodas, water, paper plates, napkins, etc. are always needed.

Hope to see you all there!
