Let's go Retro with a Double Feature at the historic Route 66 Admiral Drive In Theater! Everyone!! Due to the high heat index predicted for Aug 31, we are moving this out to September 28. Apologies! Films will be announced the week of the event, and members will have a chance to vote on which movies to see. We will meet up somewhere nearby (TBA) and consolidate into cars before driving together into the theater and securing our spots. Some of us will leave after one movie so don't worry, you can escape! Here is some info about the theater: ____________________________________________________ Your admission ticket allows you admission to one screen. Parking spaces are first come first serve, and we suggest you plan to arrive early in order to secure a prime viewing spot and to avoid longer ticket lines close to show time. The box office closes shortly after the beginning of the final movie. The audio for the movies is broadcast through an FM transmitter, and you must have a working, FM radio in order to hear the movies. WE RECOMMEND BRINGING A PORTIBLE RADIO OR BOOM BOX TO HEAR THE MOVIE. If you are going to use your car stereo-Be sure that your car battery is strong enough to power your radio throughout the show. We offer jump-starts; however, wait times are excessive on busy nights. We do not offer jump-starts until all customers have been cleared from the ticket lines. We have a snack bar offering Popcorn, Soft Drinks, Candy, Nacho’s and a Grill serving Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken Strips and Fries. WE DO NOT ALLOW OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK AT THE ADMIRAL. All movie theatres and especially DRIVE-IN’s only survive due to food sales. The lion share of the box office goes to the film companies. Simply put, if you don’t buy our concessions/food we will not be here! We appreciate your understanding.
Let's meet up at Amelia's and have some snacks and beverages for an hour or so, then head out and join the nearby first Friday Art Walk. Reservation has been made for "Tulsa Art & Food Group" under Anne. Once I get there, I will post where I am sitting and you can check your Meet up app to connect! We will check out the art and enjoy some dinner later. Nearby, let's check out the scene and especially see "THE EXPERIENCE" (pictured). THE EXPERIENCE is an artist-driven, large-scale, fully immersive art installation that invites participants to explore a fantastical, multimedia environment through sight, sound, movement, and touch. This ambitious project has completely transformed the second floor of the Hardesty Center. Five local lead artists guided the creative direction of the project. The art itself takes the form of fantastical multimedia for guests to experience and interact with as they move through the space. Voted one of the Best Public Entertainment Events in Tulsa! The First Friday Art Crawl was established in 2007 so we are marking our TWELVTH consecutive year of this monthly display. This year-round monthly event features all of the galleries, studios and museums as well as the part-time galleries in various shops opening their doors to show art. The Art Crawl is held on the first Friday of the month and open from 6–9 pm. Besides the mini-galleries being open, the established museums and galleries offer free or reduced admission and many shops stay open late. During any given Art Crawl, visitors can expect visual art, performances and maybe a few fireworks! Each venue offers something different and creative, a true hallmark of the Tulsa Arts District. As always, since we are holding a reservation, preference will be given to members with a good attendance history.
