Hike Rogers County Conservation District in Claremore

We will hike thru diverse landscapes on well maintained trails suitable for the young and not so young. Plan on walking three to five miles. Dogs are allowed on this trail and are welcome. There is a mix of paved and dirt trails including a wooden boardwalk across the marshy habitat. You can search the Internet to get more information about this amazing wilderness-like locale near so near town. We can meet at Backwoods at 12:30pm for carpooling or meet at the districts entry gate about 1:20pm. The districts parking lot and gate is very near the base of a tall orange and white television and radio tower on the Rogers State College Campus ( across from the Will Rogers Memorial)...just enter the campus and go past the stadium and a new library to get to the tower base. The parking lot is just a few hundred feet away as is the entry gate. I hope you will be able to join us. If weather is a real problem( snow/ice), the trip will be canceled here and on Backwoods Facebook page. Glen Brewington from Backwoods in the Farm Shopping Center is organizing this hike.

Thanks to everyone who came on the hike. It was good to have 5 dogs walking with the 14 people.

Directions and Update The trails are mostly concrete, asphalt or gravel. So they will be in good condition after our snow. A shorter optional section is a dirt trail and we can decide on whether to do it when we are there. I doubt if there would be significant muddiness on it by Saturday afternoon.

The trailhead is within the Rogers State University campus in Claremore. Enter on the main entry across from the Will Rogers Memorial. Drive past the stadium and on past the Library. Drive towards the tall orange and white TV and Radio tower. The trailhead and the trailhead parking lot is within a few hundred feet of the tower. Meet at Backwoods at 12:30pm or at the trailhead about 1:20pm if it is easier for you.

Hey Mistyrose! Meeting at the trailhead is indeed handier for some. I expect the group leaving from Backwoods should be there about 1:20pm plus or minus a few minutes. I will try to put directions to the trailhead in the comments section before the hike.

John Kovarik... Glen responding to ur comment. I am not good with computer useage. I did not know I even sent an attachment and do not know how to send as a link. Still a lot for me to know. I know what I do on a constant regular basis but there is much I have not done. I do not know how to put a link on. I assume you are are asking about finding info on the Rogers County Conservation District. You can search Internet for it. If you need anything you can call me at[masked]-1199. Or at Backwoods at[masked] on Monday to Thursday from 10-3pm. I will be happy to help!
