What we're about

If you have a speech to give, maybe a best man speech or a talk at work or a presentation and maybe you want to improve your confidence and overcome a fear of speaking in public. What ever it is, this is the right place for you. We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive group that has a passion for helping people improve their confidence and skill in public speaking. We meet twice a month where people have the opportunity to practise speaking on different topics and focusing on different aspects of speaking plus you get feedback so you know what went well and what you can improve on for your next speech.

You may not have heard of Toastmasters International but it is a large organisation that we are members of which means that should you wish, you can progress along their training programme so you can further hone your speaking ability and leadership skills.

That all said, we like to laugh and have a good time so if you are interested, come along as a guest for free and see what we are about. We normally have about 20 people at a meeting.

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 7.15pm to 9.30pm upstairs at the Tunbridge Wells Bridge Club (click here for a map and parking details (http://www.tunbridge-wells-speakers.org/contact-us/))

Upcoming events (5+)

Come along as a guest, say hi and enjoy the evening, we are a friendly bunch :-)

(For info - we have 34 members and on average get 24 people to meetings, plus guests. So don;t panic if Meet up says only 1 or 2 going, our club members are not on Meet Up) As we are part of Toastmasters International, the evening has structure which is what people often finding surprising. After a friendly welcome, the first half is composed of a warm up by the Toastmaster, introduction of those taking roles and then planned speeches by members. These are then evaluated and we have a break. After that it is the 'Table Topics' session which are impromptu speeches lasting 1-2 mins which you are welcome as a guest to take part in. Finally it is the evaluations of the table topics and an overall evaluation of the evening. Lots of speaking and lots of feedback on the speaking so we all learn.
