This is from the WI DNR rule book regarding tents and vehicles:

Vehicles and tents

Motor vehicles are restricted to the designated parking area on each campsite. No more than two motor vehicles (except as many as six motorcycles) are allowed per campsite.

No more than one recreation trailer, pickup truck camper or motor home may occupy a campsite. Pickup campers or motor homes pulling a trailer are treated as a single unit.

The number of tents allowed depends on the sizes of the tents and of the site. Call the park or forest office if you're considering bringing multiple tents. (I will check with them when I get there about this and let you guys/girls know if there's restrictions on our party).

Each vehicle must have a vehicle admission sticker. If you tow or carry a vehicle behind or on another one, ask at the entrance station for a courtesy sticker for the towed/carried vehicle.

I will be arriving tomorrow morning. Don't want to drive all the way up there tonight to just camp and sleep. If someone could update where you guys will be climbing tomorrow, that would be great. Thanks !

As we are arriving tomorrow morning, does anyone have a plan about where you guys are climbing tomorrow eastern rampart or west bluff?

    September 27, 2013

If you've been committed to the trip up until now and the weather scares you off, remember that someone paid for a campsite expecting you. Make arrangements to pay your share even if you bail on the trip.

    September 27, 2013

FYI - Ainsley and Monica our sharing our campsite on Saturday night only. I will probably arrive around 9 or 10 tonight.

Not sure of you mean room for tree tents, or room for 3 sleeping bags. But either is fine, I will be bringing my own tent anyhow.

      September 27, 2013

  • Mike

Jen and I are meeting at 9:30 on the north shore of the lake and then going to hit up the east rampart to set some top ropes. If you want to connect with us my mobile # is[masked], but as I recall service is pretty spotty in the park.

    September 27, 2013

  • Deb

Tarps would be nice. If you have one, please bring.

    September 26, 2013

  • TaabyaajBloodstone

FYI-WI DNR entrance fee is $10 daily, $35 annual-it is good until Dec. 31st of this year.

    September 26, 2013

    • TaabyaajBloodstone

If there is a limit on the number of tents per site, some of us might have to share tent. My tent is big enough for four people, so girls, if you want to share, I am open let me know. This will most likely cut down on the number of tents we put up per site. Also, I have another tent and sleeping bags if anyone wants to use, let me know and I can bring it. I will be leaving town at around 10am, so let me know as early as possible. Call is prefer as I will be off line soon. [masked]

Hi all! I have a complete top rope setup to contribute, I would personally like to climb some[masked]a/b routes but I'm happy to set up a 5.7/8 if we want to have a variety of options. Probably arriving late Friday night, if anyone lives in the western suburbs and wants to leave around 5pm we can carpool!

I'm actually +3 rather than +2 which would put us at 31 people... at what point should we try to get an extra campsite? Looks like the closest available campsites are at a different park 15 minutes away by car.

    September 26, 2013

  • Deb

    Umm, I'm only climbing at a 5.6/5.7.

We're less than 2 weeks away and I'm pumped. I thought it might be a good idea to take an informal survey of participants to see what's in store. If you care to, answer the following questions: (1) What type of climbing do you want to do: Trad/TR/Bouldering? (2) what grades are you looking to climb? (3) what gear do you have?

I just signed up for this trip and went on the reservation website. Apparently all campsites at DL are currently reserved? Did anyone reserve something that has additional space for me at their campsite?

    September 23, 2013

    • TaabyaajBloodstone

Steve, if you look at the current reservations at top, you'll see that there are five sites reserved. You'll welcome to share the site with the site owner and other climbers. Each site is good for six people.

Sorry for the late response. Steve, I would like to leave early on Friday. I have the Minnestoa/Wisconsin climbing guidebook, which has Devil's Lake in it.

      September 24, 2013

  • Steve

Does anyone have a guidebook (or are people familiar with the area) ? I'd like to try some of the routes listed as classics on mtn proj. I'm looking in particular at Thoroughfare (11a), Brinton's Crack (5.6), Upper Diagonal (5.9), and Congratulations (10a). Hopefully, someone will be interested in doing those, even if the rest of the group isn't.

    September 24, 2013

    • Steve

Claudia, I'm guessing we'll get there late Fri. I think both me and Pranav, plan to just camp with whoever has a spot available in their campsite.

      September 24, 2013

    • TaabyaajBloodstone

Steve, I've never been there. I do have a guide book. Upon reading it, if we can make it out to the crag early, I'm thinking some of us might stay on the East Rampert area as it has the most concentrated routes. We can split into groups if others want to venture into other areas in the park. I'm open to anything.

      September 24, 2013

  • Pranav R.

I am planning on leaving Friday evening at around 5 PM, please let me know if anyone wants to carpool. Also if anyone can share their campsite, that would be of great help. Thanks !

    September 23, 2013

  • TaabyaajBloodstone

Just a friendly reminder, if you know for a fact that you cannot make it, please unreserved yourself so that we can get an accurate head count when we get there that way we're not waiting for people.

      September 18, 2013

  • TaabyaajBloodstone

Who has been to Devil's Lake? I've never been there so this will be new to me. What length of webbing or static ropes? I'm thinking about getting a few static ropes just in case my webbings are too short.

    September 17, 2013

    • Mike

I've been to DL before. Having some long webbing or static line can definitely be helpful, especially if you only have static pro. It's always nice to sling a bolder as a psychological backup for your pieces ;-)

      September 18, 2013

just fyi, my +1 is 'the husband' Richard who cooks a mean stir fry, but does not climb!

Sorry Sean, I forgot to say yes to the book in the email. But yes, if you see Jen, please give it to her. Thanks!

      September 17, 2013

  • Mike

I hope whoever originally posted doesn't mind that I edited the description to track who will be camping on which site and who is bringing gear. Maybe I'm being anal retentive but I just want to avoid not having sufficient campsites.

    September 17, 2013

    • Mike

Also, the math wasn't exactly working out with the number of sites reserved. I went ahead and reserved Site 411. If you can, please update the list above with where you intend to camp.

      September 17, 2013

    • TaabyaajBloodstone

Mike, thanks for taking charge, I've been busy and wasn't gonna get to update this trip until Thursday(9/19), so you're perfectly fine getting things straighten out. A big thanks!

      September 17, 2013

  • Korbin Mikado P.

So I'm kind of wondering how this is all working out. I would like to come along, but I don't know what I would need to show up with. I have a rope and enough gear to set up a top rope. Are there any fee's i would need to pay? Also, i don't have a car so could i possibly carpool? just wondering.

    September 17, 2013

    • Korbin Mikado P.

it's ok thanks all the same.maybe another time. im still figuring out how these events work on here lol.

      September 17, 2013

    • TaabyaajBloodstone

Korbin, you rsvp, find your way to the campground, then climb. Camping fees are usually shared.

      September 17, 2013

  • Ainsley

We are a maybe at this point due to work travels. I will update RSVP if something changes.

    September 16, 2013

  • alison y.

Looking forward to meeting new folks and climbing! I have never been to DL. I have only my own gear (helmet/harness/shoes/belay device) I am a 5.9, some 10 climber at VESP. I'm interested in climbing whatever and having fun!

    September 16, 2013

  • TaabyaajBloodstone

For those of you who are arriving on Friday, would one of you be willing to reserve another campsite now that we have 14 rsvps? You can split the fee with whoever will share the site with you. I tried to reserve one but WI-DNR won't allow me. They said the site needs to be reserved under someone else's name and I can pay for it. I don't have an issue paying for it if I can get one person to reserve under. I would need their personal info to make the reservation, have that person check in, and split the fee among those staying on that site. Let me know.

    September 3, 2013

    • TaabyaajBloodstone

Byron, I'm hoping to be on the road by 10am. I'd like to get there before dark so I have time to put up the tent and maybe scout a little. I have room for two people if anyone wants to carpool and can leave early.
