Announcing a new Meetup for Twin Cities Rock Climbing Meetup Group!

What: Getting up to speed - safety & technique

When: July 17,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Hey Everyone ~
We had our first successful meetup last Thursday at VE (Vertical Endeavors). It became really obvious that in order for us to start planning outdoor trips, we need to get everyone up to speed on belaying and safety! Whether you're just starting out, or you feel like you need a refresher course, come and meet us for lessons and some fun.

We'll meet at VE where many of us will be taking a beginning safety class (if you aren't taking the class, come and climb anyway). It's from 7-9pm on Thursday, July 17th, and you need to register for the class by Wed, July 16th (the day before). The cost is $30 for non-members, and this fee includes all your equipment rentals and free climbing after the lesson. If you're a member, or have a punch-pass, it only costs $20. (

After this class, we'll all be "belay-certified" and can then climb on any route in the gym. Also, we'll be ready to plan our first outdoor outing! A few of you have given me great suggestions of where we can go, and we can discuss it as a group at this meeting. We'll need to find out how many of us are able to lead climb, as well as who has the necessary equipment (ropes, quickdraws, etc). We can also discuss setting up a group class outdoors if there's enough interest - VE leads 3-4hr outdoor classes that cost $69/person.

We'll be going out for Mexican food & margaritas after we climb, so plan a little extra time afterwards if you'd like to join us!

Thanks for making last week's group so successful, and I hope to meet even more of you this time!
Email me with questions - Jess

side note: I've signed up for VE's "Chillin" outdoor weekend camping/climbing trip at Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin from July 25-27th to get freshened up on my skills, and I'd love it if any of you joined me!
