Tour of Saints - a heavenly ride in St. Joseph MN

The Tour of Saints

Not a race, a heavenly little ride.  35 or 50 miles

I did this ride last year and it is BEAUTIFUL!  Information can be found at:

http://www.tourofsaints.com/home/index.html

Check in is between 6:30-8:30am  You start at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph.  You can go the night before and stay in the dormitory.  Breakfast would be provided on Sunday morning.    Check out the website above for details.

Enjoy!

JR and Tamsie, It sounds like you had quite the adventure battling the heat, hills and humidity. Kudos for doing so well.

Sounds crazy & hectic. Glad everyone is okay and you'll survived the heat!

5 stars for lunch afterwards. I can see doing this ride on a crisp fall day, but in the sweltering heat of July ? I'd like to blame the heat but truth is, I arrived late, was very SLOW, and topped it off by falling from my stationary bike. Ouch! Sag wagon took me from the 40 mile rest stop to the finish. Nothing badly hurt except my pride. The real kudos go to JR who waited TWO HOURS for me at the finish. The steam on the windows early this morning was not a good sign.....

Congratulations on a job well done. Anyone who could ride in today's heat is downright amazing.

The dreaded TRIPLE H! Heat. Humidity. Hills. Beautiful course but don't think I'll ride it again. Donuts at the rest stops and narrow shoulder riding with fast moving cars. Definitely not ideal. Kudos to Tamsie for coming out for the sauna ride!

I've been thinking a lot about this ride today, and I think Marilyn summed-up me feelings as well- it may not be a good idea for me. 35 miles is pretty much my outer limit on a *GOOD* day, and given the heat expected for tomorrow....
Sorry to say, but I'm "out".

I just checked the hourly forecast for tomorrow. At 7 it's 83, at 9 it's 87 by 11 it's 95.. That is without heat indexes. As much as I want to do this raide my head is telling me it's not a great idea. I'm going to re think it. If I decide to go I will drive myself.

I'm trying to meet some other friends that are also riding the 50, so I need to leave at 6. Anyone there gets a free ride :)

Two leave timesfrom REI have been presented--6 and 6:30. Are there going to be two shifts leaving or are we going to find consensus on one time? I prefer 6.

Sorry, JR. I didn't read your comment thoroughly enough.

I'm a weather dependent yes. If it's raining Sunday morning I'll bow out. Rei isjust fine, but it's an hour out there and I want to be on the pedals by 7 so I'll be leaving rei at 6. That's why i said 545 as I know Tamsie will probably be there and I wanted to give her a 15 cushion ;)

I've been trying to get a consensus on this ride, but some want to leave earlier than others, and no one has offered-up a firm time. So I'll offer this up: Let's meet at the REI in Maple Grove (easy on & off to 694) at, say 6:00, and hit the road no later than 6:30.

I'm with you JR. I'm all about starting early and beating the heat. I'm only doing 35 but I know you bike faster than me so we will probably finish at about the same time. Where in Maple Grove do you want to meet and when do you think you will make your final decision about attending the event?

the truck can carry 4 comfortably 5 cozy if we want to carpool. But if I come I'll be riding 50 and want to get an early start before the heat of the day. I'd be willing to meet in maple grove at 545. Let me know if you're interested or I'll just drive the red car and see y'all there :)
