Hello all,

This email concerns the lecture discussed at tonight's meeting. There are four different times to hear Arjia Rinpoche discuss his experience in Tibet before, during, and after the Chinese invasion and occupation. Many of you may have heard of the Panchen Lama whom was kidnapped by the Chinese government when he was just a child and has not been seen since. The Chinese government chose Arjia Rinpoche has the Panchen Lama's tutor, but he refused and subsequently fled Tibet. This is a wonderful way to hear from someone personally affected by the suffering inflicted upon the Tibetan people by as a result of the Chinese occupation.

I will see you there,

PS I have included an two links: one, linked here, is to the books main website, and the other, linked here, is to the dates and times that Arjia Rinpoche will be in the Twin Cities.

To Whom It May Concern:
This email is to remind you that Arjia Rinpoche will be in the Twin Cities May 28th-30th. I hope that you are able to help spread the word to help make his visit a success. I have included a flyer listing the public events that Rinpoche will be hosting while in Minnesota. Please feel free to print and distribute to anyone who may be interested in attending. If you have any questions please let me know ? I really hope you can help spread the word, attend an event, and help to make Arjia Rinpoche?s visit a memorable and successful one!

Arjia Rinpoche, one of the most prominent Buddhist teachers to have fled Tibet in the last 50 years, will be in the Twin Cities from May 28-30, 2010. Arjia Rinpoche will be giving a series of public talks about his life and events that took place inside Tibet during the last half of the twentieth century.

Surviving the Dragon is his account of growing up as the reincarnated abbot in Kumbum, one of Tibet?s major monasteries. As a child, Arjia Rinpoche was treated like a living Buddha. As a young man, he was subjected to the cruelties of the Chinese Cultural Revolution ? forced to shed his robes, empty latrines, and work in forced labor camps. After the death of Mao Tse Tung, Rinpoche gradually rose to prominence within the Chinese Buddhist bureaucracy.

At the time of his escape, Arjia Rinpoche had been asked to become the tutor of the boy the Communist Chinese had named the 11th Panchen Lama. His conscience would not allow him to be disloyal to the values of his mentor the 10th Panchen Lama or His Holiness the Dalai Lama. As a result, he fled Tibet rather than betray his Buddhist religion and his Tibetan and Mongolian heritage
