Are you aware of the Marriage Equality amendment that is up for vote in November here in Minnesota? Interested in a discussion on the matter from the perspective of engaged Buddhism? Look no further;
"Clouds in Water Zen Center: Engaged Buddhism and Marriage Equality Presentation during Sunday Morning Meditation on May 13 (9:00am, 308 Prince Street · Suite 120 · St. Paul)
This November, Minnesota voters will be asked to approve or reject an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution that will preclude legal recognition of marriage between same-sex couples. People from many spiritual traditions are coming forward to affirm that marriage is a basic human right that should be available to all loving and committed couples. The Board and Guiding Teacher Byakuren Judith Ragir have voted to support a proposal of action on this issue in our community. The intent is to encourage conversation and reflection from an open-hearted and compassionate perspective, with respect for all views, and openness to all questions. There will be a presentation with Byakuren and Clouds members on Sunday, May 13, and Council Practice on June 17th after the Dharma Talk. Resources will be provided for those looking for more information.
Note: A dharma talk on engaged buddhism generally and on marriage equality was given by Judith Ragir on April 1 and is available on line at cloudsinwater.org"
