Dedicated to rock climbing and adventures within the United Arab Emirates, Oman and beyond. Everything we do is to enable us to get to great climbing spots and spend as much time as possible on the rocks. The goal is to build a strong community and network of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts and to spread the information about climbing and other adventures in the region. We don't just limit ourselves to climbing though; in fact we support all outdoor activities such as bouldering, caving, camping, hiking, via ferreta, canyoning. Rock climbing builds strength of mind, body and spirit. The primary focus of the this page is climbing in the UAE and Oman but is open for anyone interested in outdoor activities and has the motivation to develop a passion for sports. We are not limited to the UAE and Oman either; outdoor ventures can be anywhere in the world. Climbing, outdoor or other skills are not a prerequisite. Beginners are welcome to join and participate in activities or sessions. Anyone with previous experience is welcome to join. Climbing styles can range from sport, traditional, bouldering, spelunking, DWSing, aid climbing... By joining this group, you agree to take personal responsibility for the risks associated with climbing and sports in these mountains. You also agree to accept the recommendations for proper equipment required before you attend a climb, as well as accepting the recommendations for water consumption and other pertinent issues. You agree to accept advice of more experienced hikers whose goal is to ensure your safety as well as the safety of the group. Climbing is Dangerous, you climb at your own risk. The nature of these mountains here in UAE and Oman is profoundly different to those in other parts of the world. There are NO marked trails - anywhere. There are no maps. The areas, routes, and road can even change over weeks due to flooding and rains. Navigation and exploring are mandatory and - in our opinion - a big part of the fun! Climbing is for everyone and all skill levels. There are climbs ranging from easy to very hard that do require that you have some fitness. We climb up boulders using our arms and and navigate down often slippery and loose rocks. Steep inclines require some mental fitness as well as physical. This could be the motivation you need to get out and start working out! We will plan a weekend nearly every week to the mountains of Oman and UAE. We will climb even in the heat of the summer. You don't need to have car, as half the fun of hiking is getting there, and getting to know new people along the way! Before you join us on a hike, you do need to have the right equipment and a degree of fitness. Most of our trips will be one or two day trips which will usually be on Fridays, but many of the best spots can be reached by driving more than 1-3, depending on where you are coming from. On two day trips we camp overnight We will state the difficulty of the climbsclearly and try to ensure that everyone has a clear picture of what they can expect. Notes on the Gear Fee: Climbing and camping gear is now available to be loaned for no charge which you can sign up for on the Gear Borrowing form. This is made possible by the 100dh gear contribution for the hikes. Every hike everyone is asked to contribute, whether or not you borrow gear. This money is also used as a commitment fee to avoid the problems associated with no shows, which an be a real problem. Whether or not you call it a gear fee, an organizing fee, or a commitment fee, the point is that for the cost of going out to lunch, you have a weekend of fun planned for you for 100dh. I spend a lot of time organizing these trips, as well as buying the gear, storing the gear, hauling the gear to and from the hikes, and replacing gear that doesn't get back to me or breaks down. Organizing rides is always the most difficult as many hikes require 4x4 and most people don't have one, so we will give priority on attendance to drivers first and then open it up to passengers. We also always practice the wilderness lovers creed: take only pictures, leave only footprints. We always pick up our own trash, as well as whatever we can take that's been left by others less respectful hikers. So welcome to the group and hope to see you on a mountain soon! All are welcome and encouraged to join. As a member please leave comments, pictures, videos, events, updates, climbing area and route info, maps, bike/hiking trails info, links to other useful sites... We are all friends here so please be courteous to everyone. All negative, offensive comments will be dealt with. Please no obscene pictures. While partaking in outdoor activities please remember to clean up after yourselves and to be courteous and respectful to locals and their property. Contact: Brian.coones@gmail.com +971 55 7708629
