    Speaker: Pete Mohanty Mohanty is analyzing the 2016 U.S. presidential election using his R package, which augments Kernel Regularized Least Squares (https://github.com/rdrr1990/bigKRLS) (KRLS). Mohanty shows how KRLS can easily generate highly nuanced analytics that challenge simplistic narratives about the election. Having studied in France and Germany, Mohanty’s research compares immigration politics in different countries and emphasizes the intersections of xenophobia and Islamophobia with economic, cultural, and security concerns. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s of Science degree in Statistics, and develops open source statistical software.
