WHY RUNYON CANYON???
Runyon Canyon is LA’s hotspot for hiking and one of the best places to spot celebrities. This hiking spot is both popular and famous: body builders wearing almost nothing, celebs keeping in shape, and other colorful characters with their canines. We are combining two main trails to increase the workout for this hike. The west trail on the left is has a steady incline all the way through. The east trail on the right is shorter, but the incline is more challenging – a definite calorie burner! At the top you will get panoramic views of Los Angeles, including the Hollywood sign, Griffith Park and beautiful hillside homes, which make this one of the most scenic hikes in the city. The combined east/west hike is about 4 miles round trip and will take about 2.5 hours. Be sure to keep your eyes wide opened – you never know when you’ll bump into Justin Bieber. Please see video below :)

The trail begins at 1854 North Fuller Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046. Street parking is very limited, therefore early arrival is recommended. The majority of the trails in Runyon Canyon Park are wide dirt and paved fire roads, but there are also single-track trails that are often steeper and less maintained.
We plan to start this 4 mile loop hike with 1,000' elevation gain via steep Western Highway to High Point (1,218'). We will then follow the ridge line to the treacherous Middle Rock. Upon descending Middle Rock, we would be greeted by a No Hiking warning sign.
We will take the East Trail (along East Ridge) downhill. At the end of the descending stairs, we plan to soak in the beautiful city view at Inspiration Point (800'). We will then follow Lower Canyon Trail and then Lower Canyon Rd back to the gate.
Runyon Canyon Park is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Los Angeles and often shows up on publishers’ lists of best hikes in LA. This 130-acre dog park is located in Hollywood on the east end of the Santa Monica Mountains, providing hikers with a few overlapping loops and great views over Hollywood.
Runyon Canyon is officially a dog park and has off-leash areas where canines run free. Plenty of hikers and joggers hit the trail without dogs, and Runyon Canyon clearly receives more foot (and paw) traffic that any other park in Los Angeles. The landscape is well trodden and the trails can easily feel congested.
This is a crowded park, so if you are expecting solitude, Runyon Canyon probably isn’t for you. If you are just looking for a bit of outdoor exercise with added people watching, Runyon Canyon is perfect.
