UUASC-LA / LAPMUG Two Puppet Presentations, and a Quick Intro to Google Glass

  • Dec 5, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The December UUASC-LA meetup is co-presented with the L.A. Puppet Master User Group (LAPMUG).

To start things of Chason Chaffin will do a 5 minute presentation / demo of Google glass.  Chason discussed Federated Services last July, and as soon as I heard he was picking up his glass from the Venice office last week I asked to do a quick demo for us.

We will them move on to the main part of the presentation, two talks about  using the Puppet configuration management system.

Terri Haber - "I've installed Puppet. Now what?"

Terri Haber has worked in the IT industry since 1996. She has worked as a web developer, a systems administrator, a configuration management engineer, and is now a Professional Services Engineer at Puppet Labs. When she's not traveling around the country teaching people how to use Puppet or consulting, she likes to cook and to jog, to counteract each other.

Vahram Sukyas - "Managing Mayhem with Puppet"

Vahram Sukyas is the Director of Systems Engineering at M-Go, where Puppet is used extensively to manage hundreds of instances across various environments. Prior to joining M-Go, Vahram served as the Director of Application Engineering at ReachLocal, where he spent several years evangelizing and implementing Puppet. In his spare time, Vahram enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor cooking, and going out on long drives.

When will we learn that demos need be independent of the net? Laptops can now hold a lot of VMs that can act like a net for our demos.
