Facilitation and Beyond

Facilitation of a team, workshop or any group session can be critical part of a UX professionals skill set.  After all the main core of any UX process is about people and the interaction with them.  So it makes sense that facilitation is an important part of that process with the internal team, external or client stakeholders and the customers.

BONUS - One of the book's authors, Russ Unger, will be skyping in during the meetup.

Overall great discussions because I love hearing about how everyone tackles the topic of UX in different organisations, so I can improve my approach. There was a lot of common sense brought to the table, but sometimes, we need to be reminded of these basic things because it's easy to forget them when we're too wrapped up in trying to get our projects going.

It was great Russ could join us. I feel we would have benefited more if we had all read the book and had specific questions for him. I hope it was a good session for Russ!

But hey, I'm a muppet fan, so it was an honour to meet Russ' special guests :)

Perhaps it'll help for future sessions that each person who attends has 1-2 specific question or idea related to that topic to ask/share. Afterall, it's not only about what we can get from the sessions, it's also about what we can contribute.

I thought the session on Facilitation was great, but a little light on. It was great to meet Russ, but without having read the book I felt we didn't get much value out of Russ (apart from meeting his muppets, which was awesome!).

Yeah I had a concern our mental models as there was no outline from the presenters before hand. I knew from experience it was an very large topic.

The big ask is for these sessions to become free pd education as some of the folks in the room are consulting in the space and would prefer engagement to giving it all away

Great meeting everyone and Russ. Find me on LinkedIn to keep in touch. Since I'll be leaving Perth next Sunday, if anyone wants to grab a drink next week, get in touch or leave a post here. Would be great to get a group going.

Would have loved to attend this one Gary. The book looks great by scanning the table of contents. Would you recommend it for UX Abu Dhabi?
