UX Design Pecha Kucha night

Do you have some cool designs to showcase? Have a passion for a topic that you'd like to share? Don't want to talk for long? Then put your hand up to be one of the presenters at our Pecha Kucha night!

It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.

How does Pecha Kucha work?

Each presentation is constrained to 20 slides, changing every 20 seconds each, which means each presentation goes for exactly 6 mins 40 seconds.

What can I present about?

Topics can be anything from design to personal passions. It doesn't need to be UX related. The more diverse the better. Last year's presentations included topics ranging from 'My' vs 'Your', Icon Design, Information Design with Edward Tufte, The Secret Lives of Ideas.

We have space for 10 presenters. If would like to present contact get in contact with the organiser.

About Pecha Kucha

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 slides x 20 seconds = 6 mins 40 seconds in total per person.

Pecha Kucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide.

Great to see everyone last night. Some great presentations and plenty of good discussions.

A big thanks to Teale Shapcott for organising our sepcial guests from the Alma Park Zoo: Razor (a coastal Carpet Python), Apollo (a Woma/Sand Python) and Alison Wright (Alma Park Zoo Head Keeper). Snake species like Razor are very common in the Brisbane area. However, Womas like Apollo are listed as an endangered native animal in Australia. More info on Womas and photos of Apollo can be found on the Alma Park Zoo website - Alma Park Zoo is also on Facebook – Twitter @qldzoo and of course the website

In relation to the keyboard aspect here's, a now closed but fully-funded, Indiegogo campaign for touch-screen keyboard concept called Minuum (

Not only is this for touch-screens but your arm, paper with pencil marks or a desk.
