Discussing "Change by Design" by Tim Brown

Our next Meetup is January 30th. Thanks to Pradeep & Grainger for hosting us!

Selected by popular vote, our January book will be Change by Design: How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations and Inspires Innovation by Tim Brown.

"The myth of innovation is that brilliant ideas leap fully formed from the minds of geniuses. The reality is that most innovations come from a process of rigorous examination through which great ideas are identified and developed before being realized as new offerings and capabilities.

This book introduces the idea of design thinking‚ the collaborative process by which the designer′s sensibilities and methods are employed to match people′s needs not only with what is technically feasible and a viable business strategy. In short‚ design thinking converts need into demand. It′s a human−centered approach to problem solving that helps people and organizations become more innovative and more creative."

Please remember that you can come to the meeting even if you haven't read the book. Hope to see you soon!

Wow! It looks like we might have quite a crowd on Wednesday. I think breaking into smaller groups will be the best approach, so please make an effort to read the book.

    A few important details:

    1) First, please update your RSVP status as soon as possible if you do not plan to attend. Grainger will be generously providing some light refreshments and we'd like to give them an accurate head-count.

    2) Grainger is located in the Ogilvie train station building. You will need to take the escalators up to the third floor and check in at reception. You must have a photo ID to enter the building.

    3) For those of you that do not have your first and last name associated with your Meetup account, please email me ([masked]) your real name AND your Meetup name before Tuesday at 4 pm. I will provide this information to Pradeep/Grainger. You will not be able to access the building if you do not do this.

    Thank you!

    Gemma
