Hello Kathryn

I am so sorry that I did not make the event. I have been freelancing at a company. I notified them that i would need to leave early today. But we are on deadline and the client did not get here until very late for proofing and corrections. I was looking forward to coming to the event as I am very interested in pursuing UX design. I hope this did not cause any problems with others attending. The last minute notice was out of my control. I would love to speak with you about the UX field and how to go about breaking in. If it's possible to call you at some point when it is convenient to talk I would appreciate it. Please let me know when I can get in touch with you.

Thank you again,

Leslie A. Soultanian

Thanks to the tireless work of a great team of volunteers, we have a wonderful event planned for Thursday, 11/10 entitled "Education: Designing for Social Change."
Jason Rosoff, Lead Designer for the Khan Academy.
Jason started out as a volunteer for the Khan Academy after getting fired up by the mission of bringing a world class education to anyone anywhere. Since then, he’s worked with an awesome team to define a unique student-driven learning experience on the Khan Academy. He’s also working to grow that team with designers to help imagine a future for education and build it. Previously, Jason spent 4 years learning about building great products at Fog Creek Software and led the design team. (Click here to see a TED talk about Khan Academy)

Jeanne Hoel, Sr. Education Program Manager at LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).

Jeanne Hoel is Senior Education Manager for School and Teacher Programs at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. She is a member of the Education Advisory Board for Art:21, a PBS series on contemporary art, served as Pacific Region Museum Education Director for the National Art Education Association from[masked], and was president of the Museum Educators of Southern California from[masked].

7 p.m. networking, 7:25 p.m. formal event starts. Appetizers and beverages will be served.
Working Village, 212 Marine Street 90405, Santa Monica, CA (between Rose and Ocean Park).
Parking: There are two pay lots adjacent to the venue. One is underneath the facility; you enter off 2nd St / Hampton. They offer Valet parking for $7. It will fill up, so if you come after about 7:15, go directly to option #2, across the street, enter off Marine, for $5. There is also metered parking on the street. You must feed the meters, they are enforced in the evenings as well.
FREE, due to the generous support of our sponsors, including financial sponsors Neudesic, Primitive Spark, Onward Search, IJHANA, Bestica, UX Jobs LA, and Vivid Resources. We also have some wonderful gifts for participants thanks to in-kind gifts by Loop 11, O'Reilly Media and Antetype. And we'll have video, photos and live tweeting thanks to Tao Zheng, SapientNitro and Serena Ehrlich. Learn more about our sponsors at
If you RSVPed and your plans have changed, please update your status on If you'd like to attend, join the waiting list and keep checking back for openings. And if you can't make it and are heartbroken, follow us on Twitter at #lawud11 for a live feed of the event.
See you tomorrow!
