Start-Up Agency, The Glue, Seeks Mid-Level UX Designer for Contract Projects

About the Company:
The Glue was started by three industry veterans looking to deliver great work and experiences without the usual BS and overhead involved with big agencies. We believe in delivering great work and client satisfaction while having fun and keeping our integrity in tact. We are less than a year old and have lots of compelling projects for the right person who wants to get in on the ground floor of a growing business and possibly grow up with us.

About the Role:
The UX designer will be responsible for creating and communicating the user experience (information architecture, screen architecture, screen states, etc). Initially you will be working with defined home page and IA concepts but will ideally be able to take the lead on subsequent projects. You will work closely with the UX director, as well as creative directors, designers and project managers. You should feel comfortable taking risks and handling critique and praise. Looking for someone with some client-facing experience, but will also mentor and train the right person. You must be driven and disciplined as most of the work will be done off-site and on your time. We will trust you, so be trustworthy!

Core Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Listening: Must take time to truly understand the needs and requirements of your client and your audience
  • Synthesizing and Creating: Ability to turn awesome ideas into the documents of the trade: site maps, wireframes, prototypes, etc
  • Communicating: Must be able to present ideas in a compelling intuitive language and format that laypeople understand. Absolutely no buzzwords and no BS

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Two to five years hands-on experience as a UX designer
  • Decent portfolio of live projects
  • Proficiency in OmniGraffle is a must to work with legacy docs, but will additionally consider any preferred design software that meets requirements above
  • Clear command of the English language and rules of grammar
  • Passion and pride in your work
