Organizations are increasingly applying data capabilities to complex business and user problems. In order to have a seat at the table, designers need to be able to speak the same language and participate in the process. This workshop will introduce key concepts in designing “smart” services that anticipate needs, personalize experiences, and learn over time. Participants will practice harnessing existing data in a service to solve business and user needs, and will prototype data models that power new, smart touchpoints. OUR HOST FJORD will provide light refreshments and soft drinks. ABOUT ANN CONWAY I am a design strategist who enjoys forcing connections between problems and working on integrated teams with useful friction. I have a firm belief that designers, data scientists and business types are really kindred spirits who just need to develop some empathy for each other. I enjoy bringing new products and services to market, but even more, I like seeing internal teams flourish. I partner with all types of organizations on projects that can benefit from thoughtful question-asking, problem-framing, fast prototyping, and change-making. I'm also an adjunct professor at the Institute of Design, which makes me very happy.
