I am happy to announce the Summer Series of Ukulele Lessons for Beginners, starting 23 January 2014.
The course is designed for people who would like to play the ukulele but don’t know where to start. This easy paced program consists of 5 lessons which will give you all the basics – how to tune the strings, most frequently used chords, strumming techniques and how to play a variety of songs. The 1½ hour lessons are sequential, so there will need to be some commitment to attend all five lessons.
By the end of the course you should be able to confidently play about 20 chords and dozens of songs.
The course is led by Michael Rosenberg, a qualified teacher with many years of guitar and ukulele experience. He is co-organiser of Ukuleles Canberra and URoC (Ukulele Republic of Canberra) and had taught ukulele to over 430 students over the last three years.
The lessons will be held on Thursday evenings, from 7:00 – 8:30 at the Italo Club, Forrest. The dates are:
January 23, February 13, February 27, March 13 & March 27
The cost per lesson is $16 (covers room hire, notes & tuition) and upfront payment for all 5 lessons is $75.
Please make sure you RSVP on the club website to ensure a place for yourself as the class size is limited to 15 participants.
It is preferable to have your own ukulele, but if you don’t, please contact Michael on 0412 093 958
To enrol, simply go to the Canberra Ukulele website http://www.meetup.com/UkulelesCanberra/ and click “our calendar” on the menu bar at the left hand side. Then click on the date of the first lesson (23 January). On the “beginners’ lessons” page there will be provision for RSVP to confirm your place.
Next session of lessons is not until late April.
Hope to see you there.
