Family: Easy 2-3 mile hike at Bear Mountain on the Appalachian Trail

Pace: Relaxed/Easy, we decide the pace while enjoying the views
Terrain: Small amount of rocks and dirt, no climbing involved
Distance 2-3 miles
Duration: 2-5 hours (You decide)
Welcome: All The summer brings special visitors and activities. My niece and nephew are visiting from
PA. They have asked to do a few things before the summer ends. I thought it would be great to make a meetup out of their ideas and enjoy the time with you too. Doing all these fun things reminds me of when my kids were young. I digress. Do you like the water? Let's rowboat at Hessian Lake in Bear Mountain after hiking 2-3 miles
on the Appalachian Trail (AT). This part of the AT is nice because you can walk over the bridge
and enjoy the view of the water. Once over the bridge there is a small hill to walk up.
Then, as the AT does, it levels out to flat ground. When the kids (or parents, aunts, uncles,
friends, godparents) decide, we can turn around and head back and relax on a row boat.

Can anyone give me a ride from Poughkeepsie for tomorrow's easy Bear Mountain hike? I can't afford the parking fee (or even the gas) right now.

I am so sad that I have not been able to attend a meetup yet. This one sounds like it will be great fun but I have a christening to attend out of town. :-( Can't wait for an opportunity to finally meetup!
