Whitewater Rafting the Lehigh River Gorge

A fun and exhilarating day of class II-III rapids await all thrill seekers as we paddle our way down through the spectacular scenery of the Lehigh River Gorge in the heart of the Pocono Mountains.  No experience is necessary.  All equipment provided, continental breakfast in route, and picnic lunch on river.

Please note that you must register and book this trip on the Outdoor Connections website to reserve your spot. See link below ....

http://www.outdoorconnectionsnyc.com/guided-adventure-trips/whitewater-rafting-lehigh-river-gorge.php

Get ready for some wet and wild fun as we ride the rapids through the awesome river gorge scenery of Lehigh Gorge State Park.

This is the ultimate whitewater trip – the best in the tri-state area. This particular weekend has a scheduled “dam release” from the upstream Francis E. Walter Dam which all but guarantees perfect rafting conditions. We will hold on tight for Class II and III rapids – 18 in total – and cover a distance of approximately 13 miles in about 5 hours.

So you never have been rafting before and are perhaps a little unsure? No worries, no experience is necessary. Upon arrival at base camp, we will check-in, get geared-up and then go through a briefing by our outfitter’s certified and experienced river guides. They will show and teach us the basic rafting skills and proper paddling techniques to negotiate the river. A quick hop into the bus will take us to the raft put-in where our journey begins. Several guides outfitted in whitewater kayaks will escort our group of rafts down the river from start to finish giving us encouragement and direction along the way. You say you don’t know how to swim? That’s not a problem either as you will be wearing your life vest which will keep you afloat as the guides will get you back into your raft.

We will stop roughly half way through our whitewater adventure to break out our picnic lunches – in warmer weather this is a great opportunity to get in a quick swim as well. After our day of paddling the river, we will head back to base camp, clean-up and head on back home. You are assured to sleep well on the ride back!

All trip details and final trip itinerary will be e-mailed to all registered guests the week of the trip date.

It has multiple dates on booking. Should I just book it and then call to let them know it's for 6/21? Also, if there is room on the trip I'm driving and have room for three. Although you'd need to come to Riverdale area *Bronx

Jim we stated we would be driving, and determining whether that was a good idea. Of course we would pay, if we were going. According to your earlier message if we drove there is room??! Wendy, I work near Hoboken, and SI isn't far, I was asking to see if that would be a good option for us both. It looks like you have decided against the trip. I'm going to figure out a way to go, maybe not with this group as it's still pricey if we drive. Only $14 less.

Guys- This is meetup.com, people RSVP "yes" all the time and then dont show up

Oops.. For our trips, we always reserve in advance otherwise it is unlikely you can get a spot with the outfitter....so therefore we need to folks to sign up in advance, not just show up...like I said above, Meetup is notorious for folks RSVPing and then never showing up.. :)

    Looks like 40% t storms :(

    June 18, 2014

    • Jim K.

We go, rain or shine. You are going to get wet anyway... t-storms are very hit or miss. if we do get stuck in a t-storm the guides will either have us paddle thru or pull over to side - whatever is the safest option. remember, we are in a gorge in a narrow river so that is a pretty safe place to be...
