What we're about
Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse is all about presenting weekly Friday night acoustic (folk and songwriters) concerts. We are a team of volunteers who love this kind of music, and think it does a lot of good in the world and want to contribute to it. Interested in volunteering at Uncle Calvin's? We can always use a little more help! There are several kinds of positions in our volunteer line-up, most of which are before, during and after the show. New volunteers can help out in the dessert and beverage areas, with setup, teardown or kitchen cleanup. Some other positions during the show like sound tech, product sales or door management require special training. Once you've volunteered a few times and get to know us, you may train for other spots.
Uncle Calvin's is one of the premier listening rooms in Texas attracting songwriters and musicians from across the country. Calvin's is smoke and alcohol free, the focus being on the music and community. It is held in NorthPark Presbyterian Church, but most of volunteers are of all religious and non-religious backgrounds, we're a not for profit organization and donate funds raised through the year to interfaith organizations like the North Texas Food Bank, The StewPot downtown, the Vcikery Meadow Food Pantry.
