What we're about

Welcome! We imagine a community of parents and child development professionals who hold a commitment to "Raising Children With Care and Raising Children Who Care." Our community looks to unconditional positive regard for the child as our primary guide along our way which combines the principles of nonviolence, together with an empathy lead approach to the science of child development. This synergistic approach has been named Nonviolent Parenting (NVP).

We are open to all parents wanting to grow close and loving relationships with their children. We want parents who are curious about how kindness is combined with protective boundaries, how to develop "power with" dynamics in all areas of human relationships, and how to find fun, play and creativity to make room for self care and self acceptance.

We promote the workshops and classes lead by trained professionals who demonstrate their on-going commitment to evolve along with us. The professionals in our group continually engage with members in order to be stronger advocates for children and families.

One word comes to mind to sum up the purpose of our Meet Up group: Ubuntu - I am because we are - the Zulu concept of community. We need each other to do this work. How do I become we? We belong to each other.

PS: The name of our meet up comes from Alfie Kohn's book - Unconditional Parenting. He is one of our many, many voices who add a richness to inform, validate and excite our work.
