This one day seminar is designed for anyone who wants to understand what blockchains are, what they are capable of and how they work. Technical content is not removed but explained in a way that non-technical people can understand. Specifically the course will cover the following:

Our Course Instructors:

Nick Zeeb

Nick is a passionate advocate for Blockchain Technology and loves teaching technical concepts in an understandable way. He was previously the Lead Engineer at Clearmatics (http://www.clearmatics.com/), a renowned London Blockchain financial start-up and has worked as a senior software engineer at an exchange, an investment bank and a hedge fund. Nick holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Oxford and has years of experience giving understandable technology talks.

Laurence Kirk

Laurence is a senior Blockchain Developer and Founder of Extropy.io (http://extropy.io/). After a successful career writing low latency financial applications in the City of London, Laurence was captivated by the potential of Blockchain Technology, and in particular smart contracts. Two years ago, Laurence moved to Oxford and set up Extropy.io (http://extropy.io/), a consultancy working with start-ups in the UK and overseas, developing applications on the Ethereum platform. He brings with him a wealth of real world experience that he loves to share with those new to this area in a way that business and non-technical users can understand.

Laurence hold a Physics degree from Durham University, and currently taking his MSc in Software Engineering at Oxford University. In addition to giving talks, mentoring at hackathons, and running groups about Blockchain Technology, Laurence also organise Artificial Intelligence and Data Science groups in Oxford.

Stephen Jackson

Stephen has been a professional Software Developer for 10 years. During that time, Stephen has worked at some of the world’s largest companies and gained a breadth of experience; from developing websites that are clicked on millions of times per day through to working on applications that help Portfolio Managers manage portfolios containing $100's million of assets.

Stephen first became aware of Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology at the end of 2013 when it was thrust into mainstream news as it reached, then, unprecedented highs. From that point in history, he has been researching more into the underlying technology and attending Blockchain Hackathons and workshops. At the beginning of 2017, Stephen joined a leading Blockchain Consultancy called Extropy.io (http://extropy.io/) working with international clients, where he has been helping to produced research papers about ICO regulation and digital currencies, write, build and deploy Smart Contracts and create web-based Decentralized Applications.

Antonio is a founder of The Blockchain Connector (https://www.theblockchainconnector.com/), a company focusing on recruiting and training Blockchain professionals. Antonio has 10 plus years experience working closely with global Investment Banks placing highly skilled eTrading Technology professionals. He brings with him an extensive network, ranging from mid to senior level technology and business professionals across the financial sector. Very successful in building repeat business based upon building strong relationship with clients and understanding their requirements.
