United Hope for Animals' Glamor Shot Days:
*Note: Make sure you fill out the volunteer application on our website before RSVPing for a Glamor Shot Day: http://www.unitedhope4animals.org/volunteer/volunteer-application/
Help us save the lives of homeless pets by lending a hand on a UHA Glamor Shot Day. Work with us at the shelter to handle dogs and cats, name them, socialize with them and get to know their personalities, and hold them for photography and video. We also need expert photographers (**must be pre-approved**) and videographers who are good at narration. (If you don't mind speaking on camera, we'll train you to do the rest.) We provide doughnuts and encouragement, and you bring your self in a sturdy pair of jeans and shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty. :)
We will be there from 8:30 am until about 1 p.m. but you can come anytime to help out and stay as long as you are able. If you plan on staying for a longer time it's a good idea to bring a snack and a drink. Other handy items: towel, change of shoes or clothes, hand sanitizer.
To find us go walk through the main office to the kennels and walk though the kennels until you get to the back and go left. When you see a group of people with cameras, videos and dogs on leashes then you are in the right place.
All Glamour Shot Day participants must be 18 years of age or older.
For safety reasons, please wear long pants, close-toed shoes, and leave your jewelry at home. Exuberant puppies and earrings do not make a good combination!
A Note for First-Time Volunteers: As a first-time Glamor Shot Day participant, you will shadow an experienced volunteer to learn more about the shelter and our process. If you decide to become a regular participant at Glamor Shot Day, you will also need to complete the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control volunteer orientation, offered monthly. Having your own health insurance is strongly recommended.
Every two weeks we take Glamor Shots and videos of up to 80 dogs and cats, and 94% of these homeless pets are adopted or rescued as a result. There are plenty of behind-the-scenes volunteer roles that are necessary to make this result possible. We need volunteers to upload videos to YouTube, post pet profiles to Petfinder, write stories for our website and more! If you are interested in helping out via a computer or telephone, please let us know. We'll find the right job for you!
