Across the country there is a call for an Article V Convention (also called a Convention of States) for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution.
Georgia is introducing legislation this session, and may be the first state to call for the convention - but many will be following closely behind. It is very likely that a convention will actually take place within the next few years. If so, this will be the biggest political event of our lifetime. The states will be proposing amendments to take power away from the Federal Government and return it to the States and to the people.
We are very fortunate to have David Guldenschuh, one of the leaders of the Convention of States movement in Georgia at our Tea Party meeting next week. He is really an expert on the process and the history outlined in Article V of the Constitution.
Note that we have changed the meeting location slightly, and are now meeting on the 3rd floor above Ippolito's Restaurant in Suwanee Town Center. There is a hallway beside the restaurant with an elevator and stairs that goes to the third floor meeting room. Anyone can also ask for directions at Ippolito's.
We will start promptly at 7:30, but will have a pizza & pasta buffet available for $12 (including drink) for anyone who wants to come early. We expect a good turnout for this meeting, so to ensure a seat it might be good to arrive shortly after 7.
