Diwali (Festival of Light) Learning from our Neighbor

Details

Presented by our own Reverend Leonetta with guest Sonu Malik.

You will walk over a specially created rangoli at our entrance to celebrate the festival symbolizing light overcoming evil, ignorance, darkness. Divali is a holiday celebrated by Hindus, Jains, & Sikhs. The 5 day festival of Diwali focuses on strength of family & gratitude for light. Come to experience ritual, song, stories and our ‘row of lights-dijas’ as Rev. Leonetta collaborates with the generous teacher, Sonu Malik, who has used UUCF as the location for her Hindi classes for years. The date is flexible each year and determined on the darkest day of the lunar month, which is the day of the new moon.

(Celebrated in 2019 on October 27 and in 2020 on November 14.)
