  • Why the Upper Valley MakerSpace Meetup group is going away
Hello and greetings from the Claremont MakerSpace! We wanted to let you know that we have decided to close the Upper Valley MakerSpace Meetup group as it is no longer the most effective means of communicating with everyone. We initially created this group five years ago as a way to build a community of Makers in the Greater Upper Valley, and to create a MakerSpace. Now that the Claremont MakerSpace is up and running, we're finding that the best and most efficient way to reach everyone without duplicating information and effort is through our website and our email lists. Our website is at www.ClaremontMakerSpace.org and on it you can find a listing and online registration for all of our upcoming classes, events and gatherings, read all about what's going on at the CMS and learn about our shops and tools. If you haven't already done so, please take a moment and sign up for our mailing list so that we can continue to keep you updated on upcoming activities and events at the Claremont MakerSpace. You can find our mailing list signup on our website under About -> Join Our Mailing List. Thank you all for your ongoing interest in and support of the Claremont MakerSpace and for helping make the CMS a reality. Happy Holidays, Happy Makin' and we hope to see you at the Claremont MakerSpace soon.

  • Join us for Field Day 2018 -- Amateur Radio's Open House
Are you interested in Amateur Radio? Do you want to learn how you can communicate locally and globally without the use of a telephone or the Internet using just a radio and antenna? Our friends at the Twin State Radio Club would like to invite you to join them for Amateur Radio Field Day, Amateur Radio's Open House. This is your chance to come out and learn, see a variety of Amateur Radio equipment in use, get on the air yourself and find out how you can become a licensed Amateur Radio operator and join in this exciting hobby. Ham Radio as it is often called, is one of the original Do-It-Yourself hobbies and is one of the best ways for people to learn about electronics, physics, meteorology, and numerous other scientific disciplines, and is a huge asset to any community during disasters if the standard communications and power infrastructure goes down. Makers, electronics enthusiasts, and just folks who like to communicate are all part of the Amateur Radio community. Twin State Radio Club will be operating using alternate forms of power including solar, battery, and generators, simulating a disaster situation, operating in a field, without any commercial power. Come and learn about the many different ways to participate in Amateur Radio, including voice, digital, satellite communications, and Morse code. Learn about the variety of commercial Amateur Radio equipment available, as well as radio and antenna kits and electronics projects that you can build yourself, at home, or soon, at the Claremont MakerSpace. Twin State Radio Club will be operating continually from Saturday June 23rd at 2pm until Sunday June 24th at 2pm. Stop by any time, see the setup, talk with local radio enthusiasts and makers and get on the air and make your first radio contact! We’ll be set up at the Richmond Middle School playing fields 63 Lyme Rd, Hanover, NH 03755 ALL ARE WELCOME. You don’t need to be a licensed ham radio operator to attend. Stop by, check it out and see what this exciting hobby has to offer.
