Bohemians and Opera - Barber of Seville - FREE!

6:00pm Doors & preshow (including BUGGS BUNNY's - RABBIT OF SEVILLE)
7:30pm The Barber of Seville

Dallas Opera shows strength with upcoming season and new AT&T Stadium simulcast

During the past few years, the Dallas Opera has secured its place among the best of the local arts scene. The[masked] season is yet another shining example. It contains a full schedule of five productions and its third simulcast at AT&T Stadium, this one of The Barber of Seville.

The simulcast, taking place April 11, should lure thousands of people to Jerry World, just as those in 2012 and 2013 did. To provide a bit of extra enticement, as we so presciently predicted last year, the opera will be preceded by a screening of the Bugs Bunny classic, Rabbit of Seville.

IMPORTANT - As with the first two simulcasts, tickets are free, but they must be claimed though Dallas Opera Website  http://dallasopera.org/simulcast/

It was fun but think I will stick with the Kylde Warren simulcast in the future. It was much more comfortable and relaxing than the stadium. Also, we didn't have to worry about security or the size of your bag.

I blew it off when I realized it was being done at the football stadium, for the accoustics. I have enjoyed the Met imulcasts at theaters in the past, but a football stadium is not in my range of interest for opera, what with all the ambient noise from aircraft and traffic.

Carmen was simulcast at Klyde Warren last year and I had a ball.

I enjoyed it but the acoustics were not quite in sync for a venue like the opera. What seemed to be needed is a little time delay or cancellation in the audio signal reverberating back from the arena. Little too far to go in the future even though I was in the south side of the city. Well done opera, cast was great showing and telling the story.

    April 11, 2014

Yes if you already went on line to order them. Otherwise you have to go to the opera's website to request them first - the link is at the end of the event description.

I wasn't able to get one online. One place said it was free then when I tried to get a ticket it cost $99.

Hi, I have an extra ticket though I won't be able to get there till about 6: 45 to 7 p.m. Please please advise if you want it and we can meet by North side entrance K and then go in to meet up with the rest.

    April 10, 2014

  • David

I will be at North Side entrance 'K' around 6:00 - Will try to get seats in section C234, C235, or C236 - with C235 being the most center and most preferred area.
May need to adjust due to crowd and actual viewing spot (view of Giant Screen from seats ) - I will post our actual location here when there. I will help so much if most of you can arrive on time or before (doors open at 6:00) - that we we can secure area and spread out to allow our group members to fill in.

I picked up 8 tonight so I figure that they are in sequence. If anyone wants them let me know as I talking to clients and friends

The tix I have are blank in the seating info, it's open seating. I've been the other two years, there's PLENTY of seating.

      April 6, 2014

    • Erika

Only if they don't block off 2/3 of the stadium seating like they did last year, then it was cramped and they ended up opening more levels. Last year you could only sit in the middle section on either side in front of the two bigger screens

I just received my tickets today via post mail. Although I signed up for tickets for Carmen I never received them nor did I pick them up from will call as they were not needed at Klyde Warren.

But, looks like this venue will require tickets. The items that are prohibited is long.

    PROHIBITED:

    1. All purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch bag
    2. Backpacks
    3. Briefcases
    4. Binocular case (binoculars may be worn around the neck).
    5. Camera bags
    6. Cinch bags
    7. Computer bags
    8. Coolers
    9. Diaper bags
    10. Fanny packs
    11. Luggage of any kind
    12. Seat cushions

I think I prefer Klyde Warren. It was so relaxing and enjoyable. I'm still excited though.

I organized an opera simulcast event at Cowboy Stadium last year. What I did was: I looked at the Cowboys Stadium online map, noted the general parking lot closest to an Entrance and used that Entrance as the meet-point. Just a thought.
