• UPC Saturdays @ Provision 14 and Marvin (U Street)

    Provision No. 14

UPDATE: The Location of this Meet Up has been changed from Hawthorne to Provision 14 I know it’s technically still spring, but DC Summer vibes are in full effect. Last month we hit Dupont Circle and had a great time. This month we’ll be on U street. We’ll be hitting a new spot for the group, Provision 14. Provision 14 is restaurant/bar right off U street, they're really known for their weekend brunch, but they also have a great Happy Hour. Happy hour prices are from 4-8PM on Saturday, so come on time if you want a discount on one of their signature cocktails. Afterward, we’ll head up the street to Marvin. Marvin is a UPC favorite because it’s a guaranteed fun time. There are multiple rooms, so you can bust a move on the dance floor, catch the game or just chill on the rooftop. UPC Fridays/Saturdays is a monthly social event where anyone and everyone, regular attendees and first-timers alike, can kick back and relax with fresh new faces. It's purely social, casual, and always a great time. Daniel

  • UPC Saturdays @ 1831 Bar (Dupont) and Eighteenth Street Lounge

Wow, May already??? Yes Yes Yes... DC summer vibes are fast approaching and UPC will be right there in the mix. Let's kick things off this time at Dupont Circle. The last time we were here, we hit up Caged Bird and had a great time. That was almost a year ago. This time, we will be trying out a spot I have never been to but have heard great things about, 1831 Bar & Lounge. Even aside from the recommendations, the atmosphere looks terrific and the menu is right up my alley: https://www.1831dc.com/menu Afterwards, we’ll head around the corner to Eighteenth Street Lounge (ESL) where the music and dance lovers can turn the notch up a bit if they so choose. If you prefer to kick it and continue chatting with other group members, it's still the perfect place. ESL is a renovated mansion, with multiple rooms, each with a different vibe (i.e. Hip Hop, Top 40, Salsa/Bachata, etc.), including an outdoor patio. The Donvonte McCoy Quintet, one of DC’s premier jazz bands will be playing in the Jazz Room up stairs. Perfect atmosphere to just mellow out and just soak up the mood. UPC Fridays/Saturdays is a monthly social event where anyone and everyone, regular attendees and first-timers alike, can kick back and relax with fresh new faces. It's purely social, casual, and always a great time. Bring a friend or three and see you then! Justin

  • UPC Saturdays - McGinty's & Dave & Buster's Silver Spring

    McGinty's Public House

Hey UPC Members, In continuance with our monthly meetup cadence, we will be in the Silver Spring central square kicking it off at McGinty's for HH. Then around 8:30 or so, we'll head out and walk through the mall area to Dave & Buster's! You can't beat those logistics. For my day-ones out there, we've done this before almost 2 years ago, and we really had a blast! Let's make sure this one keeps up with that same energy. Not to mention, our group size has quadrupled since then. UPC Fridays (in this case, Saturday) is a monthly happy hour where anyone and everyone, regular attendees and first-timers alike, can kick back and relax with fresh new faces. It's purely social, casual, and always a great time. See you there! Justin

  • UPC Game Night @ Kaldis In Silver Spring

    Kaldi's Rooftop

Hey Folks. If you've been a part of UPC for a while, you know that Game Night is pretty much our biggest and most talked about event. So let's bring it back even stronger. Let's kick back and get competitive with an insane amount of games at our favorite black-owned spot, Kaldis in Silver Spring. We'll start the night off right with some interactive games to make sure everyone feels right at home. We'll also have Uno, Connect Four, Taboo, Catch Phrase, Chess/Checkers, Jenga, and of course our standard card games we know and love (i.e. Spades). Plus, when the mood is right, we'll break out a special group game and get everyone involved. Any games you don't see but want to play? Feel free to bring em! We've got a few new ones up our sleeves too. Kaldis also has a really great happy hour with great deals, so I guarantee this will be a good time. So prepare for some continued turn-up if you choose to stay out. Come solo or some with friends! You'll be sure to meet some really cool folks in Silver Spring! Best, Justin

  • UPC Fridays @ Stans & Park at 14th

    Stan's Restaurant

Hey Folks, Since last week's meetup was cancelled due to snow, let's treat ourselves on short notice to some of the best venues DC has to offer. Stans on Vermont ave has literally the best (or at least strongest) drinks in town. If you haven't been, it's is one of those quaint speak-easy-looking spots where you actually have to go downstairs just to access. Around 9ish, we'll start to transition. Park is a very popular with 3 levels and a heated patio. The music will be on point. (The following is the description from the cancelled meetup last week) ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Happy 2019 my people. We made it to a new year, the final year of the 2010's. What does it mean to you? Excited? Anxious? Empowered? Either way, those are all great reasons to come kick it with us. To start off, I have a question for those who haven't quite made it out to an event... Did you save a few UPC events but hesitatd to come because your friend stayed home? Did you get amped about coming one Friday, but it rained and suddenly the commute was too far? Did you actually show up once but hesitate to speak up because you didn't know anyone? If you answered yes to either of the above, 2019 is a fresh start! By now, I can confidently say (and I'm willing to bet all who have come would agree), this group genuinely tailors to newbies. We personally make it a point for everyone to feel welcome. So please, do yourself a favor and come join us. This is the year of you!!! UPC Fridays/Saturdays is a monthly happy hour where anyone and everyone, regular attendees and first-timers alike, can kick back and relax with fresh new faces. It's purely social, casual, and always a great time. Bring a friend or three and see you then! Justin
