Urban Sketchers O‘ahu (USkO) is a regional chapter of Urban Sketchers, a worldwide organization. As is the case with Urban Sketchers, USkO aspires to raise awareness, interest, and enthusiasm for urban sketching (aka “sketching on location”) as a way to document local scenes, promote artistic expression, and make connections with others. All skill levels are welcome (and present) at USkO events. The group meets at least once per month at varying locations around O‘ahu. Meetings are generally free unless, for example, we meet at a historic site where admission is charged by an outside entity such as a national park. Gatherings typically involve an initial period of time for sketching (~1.5 hours) followed by a show-and-tell session (~30 minutes) during which participants chat about their artwork, socialize, and learn from each other. The group is informal and participants may be as focused or social as they would like.
