New unclassified scientific studies are now available on power grid vulnerability, however most of the discussion on the internet and TV still just parrot the old and far poorer data. It may not be nearly as bad as the hype would lead you to believe, particularly for Colorado. There is a lot of fear and bad information out there on this subject. There are also practical things you can do to be prepared, without spending big bucks.
This presentation has been updated since it was given in January to: address questions that were asked that required more research; add new information about cyber-attacks against the power grid; and discuss EMP in greater detail. Finally, we will cover the Korean EMP capability/threat after their detonation of a third nuclear weapon, and the DIA stating they believe Korea has nuclear weapons that are capable of delivery by their missiles.
