Making Better UX Design Decisions with Phillip Hunter

  • Feb 12, 2014 · 6:30 PM

***Disney will be actively recruiting for UX design positions at this event***

Come and join us to learn more about making better UX design decisions with Phillip Hunter, Senior UX Designer, Microsoft Bing.   Event graciously hosted by Disney.

SCHEDULE

• 6:30-7pm:  Networking

• 7-8pm:  Presentation and Q/A

• 8-8:30:  Wrap-up

**Pizza, Beer, Wine, Beverages provided**

ABOUT THE TALK

Making UX Design decisions is tough and there aren’t many tools to help us make them. There’s a lot to consider and many things that are easy to overlook. Successful experiences need to accommodate the right elements even though they’re difficult to perceive or assess. How do you frame them so that effective choices are made? Likewise, delivering a great design is a challenge of role and skill. Will a team be able to do what needs to be done? How do they know what they need to be good at, and who needs to be how good at it, in order to accomplish experience goals?

This practical session will discuss two important frameworks for UX design, Context and Capabilities.

You will:

• gain practical tools for choosing, designing and prioritizing key elements to achieve your user experience goals.

• understand the advantages, liabilities, strengths, and weaknesses needed to deliver on them.

ABOUT PHILLIP

Phillip practices and evangelizes experience and interaction design at Microsoft, helping extend its recent re-focus on great experience design.  Previously, he has twice engineered the overhaul of UX strategies, founded design and user research practices and teams, and designed voice, mobile, and browser applications, tools and sites.

Really enjoyed Phillip's presentation style + the disambiguation between features and experience

Thanks Phillip! Designing complex and rich experiences, not just easier experiences, is intriguing. I'm very interested in learning more about how to apply it and reading Seductive Interaction Design by Stephan Anderson. Look forward to seeing your slides up close!

    Hi folks,
Those of you who are driving to the event, have to manage their own parking. Disney or UXPA will not take responsibility for the parking. But there are many parking spots available near the event location. The metro service is also a great option, it is just a five minute walk from the Pioneer Square station to the Disney office.
Looking forward to an awesome event!
    See y' all soon!
    Cheers,
    Divi
