The INTENTION is to climb from the Pine Hollow lot up the road, with a possible 350' detour up to Mill Canyon Spring. Then after arriving at the Alpine Loop Summit, descend
Willow Hollow (159)
Salamander Flat (150)
Pine Hollow (047)
This plan is assuming the forest service grooms the trails. If they don't, we'll alter the ride, perhaps riding somewhere else entirely.
Be at the Pine Hollow parking lot up American Fork Canyon READY TO RIDE at 8am. I'll be there at 7:50am.
You want a bike with 4-5" tires on it. The trail is snow covered, and you need the flotation of the larger tires.
I'm new to fat biking, so I fall a lot. Laugh a lot too! Most of the fun of fat biking is watching your riding buddies eat it! Once at the top up toward the top we will change to warmer gear, then descend down Willow Hollow trail, then Salamander Flat down, and finish with the Pine Hollow descent.
The total ride #s are around 1500' climbing in 8 miles total riding (up and down). For reference I normally bring 40-50oz of water for this ride, and have a little left over when I'm done, depending on how warm it is.
This ride is intermediate fitness, and intermediate technical. It something sketches you out, simply walk. There are some advanced sections which are optional, we can discuss and see if anyone is up to it.
This ride is completed in ~3hrs of riding time.
