What do you hope to get from (or give to) this meetup?

I would really like to start networking with the Salt Lake area Ruby world. I am finding that I have a real passion for coding Ruby and would like to meet others who share that passion. As I continue to grow in my knowledge, I hope to be able to help other new Rubiests.

What type of programming experience do you have?

Almost none. When I was 13 my dad taught me some Basic. I started self-teaching Ruby in April of this year, and I am currently in a Ruby on Rails boot camp. We have been growing by leaps and bounds in the boot camp, with a strong emphasis on test driven development. It has been a fun ride so far.

How long have you been programming?

Just since April of this year.

I have been a chemistry teacher for the past 6 years and decided to make a drastic career change. My professional computer experience is minimal, but chemistry is a problem solving based subject, so the problem solving nature of Ruby is a good fit.
