UPDATE: Henry Coe State Park Project POSTPONED until April 27-29. After a record dry winter, so much rain has fallen in the past couple of weeks that the soil is too saturated to do trail work this weekend (April 13-15).
Use this meetup to start or join a carpool to the project. If you have a ride to offer, please say where you are located, how many people you can bring with you, where they should meet you and what time. If you're coming back early please say that too. If you need a ride, please be very clear what time you can leave, when you'd like to head home, and how many of you there are. Project details and registration are on the V-O-Cal website: http://www.v-o-cal.org
NOTE: Google maps and other GPS services can NOT locate the specific spot where we’ll be and may send you to the wrong place. The project location is not near the main park offices. We therefore recommend that you go the “old school route” and follow the directions below. (Typing “Hunting Hollow, Gilroy, CA” into Mapquest.com does get you in the vicinity, but please review directions for how to get the last few miles from Hunting Hollow. )
Take the Masten Ave exit off US-Highway 101. From the North: go left on Masten Ave. From the South, go right.
Turn RIGHT onto Center Avenue. Make the second LEFT onto Rucker Avenue. Turn RIGHT onto New Avenue. Turn LEFT onto Roop Road. Bear LEFT to stay on Roop Road. Pass CalFire station on your right. Roop Road becomes Gilroy Hot Springs Road. Go 2.5 miles past the the large Hunting Hollow parking lot on your right, crossing the green trestle bridge.
Park in center camp clearing or along roadside.
